Screenings can identify conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol before symptoms manifest, facilitating early treatment and better outcomes.
Packages can be tailored to individual risk factors such as age, gender, family history, and lifestyle, providing a customized health evaluation.
Detecting and managing health issues early can reduce the need for more extensive and expensive treatments in the future.
Regular screenings provide reassurance about one's health status and encourage proactive health management.
Certain screenings are recommended at specific ages; for example, cholesterol checks often start at age 20 and colon cancer screenings at age 50.
Individuals with a family history of certain diseases may need earlier or more frequent screenings.
Those with risk factors such as smoking, obesity, or a sedentary lifestyle should consider regular screenings.
Some employers or insurance policies may require health screenings.
Regular screenings are beneficial for all adults to monitor and maintain health.
Regular monitoring helps manage existing health issues effectively.
Individuals with high-stress levels, poor diet, or lack of exercise can benefit from regular assessments.
Nutritional Deficiency Screening:
Cancer markers:
Special Metabolic Screening:
Hormonal Balance Screening:
Helicobacter Pylori stomach infection / Viral hepatitis screen:
Unlike common illnesses such as acute respiratory infections or gastroenteritis, chronic diseases such as Hypertension, Dyslipidemia and Diabetes may not cause symptoms in the early stages. Symptoms may only surface if the disease becomes more severe, or when there are complications of the chronic disease, which is the worse-case scenario! Therefore the primary goal of health screening is to detect chronic disease in its early stage, or even in it’s pre-stage (i.e. reversible stage), so as to ensure timely lifestyle or pharmacological interventions to minimize complications in the long-term.Â
In other words, chronic diseases are also known as “silent killers” and it’s paramount to get yourself screened regularly even when you feel perfectly healthy!
Health screening is as simple as taking your own blood pressure readings at home with a reliable machine and maintaining a BP diary to review with the doctor, or taking your height and weight and calculating your BMI.Â
For our packages, our basic Love package is designed with all the necessary tests for an average-risk individual.
Additional tests are recommended only after our doctor has reviewed your age, medical history, lifestyle, family history, before making an informed and shared decision with you, so that you know exactly what each test entails.Â
Mental preparation is important – keep an open mind and have a frank discussion with our doctor regarding your lifestyle and health goals.
Do bring along your past medical reports especially if they have been done in private. Our clinic can also access your National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) to gather your past medical information so as to make recommendations.Â
Fasting is generally not required nowadays, but if it is not too great an inconvenience, you may fast for at least 6 hours before screening. You may still take your essential regular medications with plain water.
If you are feeling unwell, it’s best to postpone the health screening until you are better.
We would reconcile your test results either through the National Electronics Health Records (NEHR) if uploaded or you may email or bring the reports on the day of screening. Repeat testing within a short interval is not necessary, therefore the doctor will advise on the appropriate tests and customize a package for you.Â
Our health screening packages are priced affordably, from as low as $85 (nett price) for the Love package, which is a comprehensive-enough screen for most people which can be repeated 6-monthly to annually. You may also choose to add-on additional test and/or imaging if you require them, or after the initial consultation with our doctor. All prices for the packages and add-on tests/imaging studies are available on our website. Do note that review of health screening results with our doctor is also complimentary and highly encouraged – in fact, the review is the most important step of health screening so that you know what actions to take for better health.
Health screening is basically “screening” for any early disease in the absence of symptoms (i.e. when you feel completely well), as some diseases may not have symptoms in its early stages. It is therefore performed periodically (usually 6monthly to annually), based on your risk factors or personal medical history.
If you do experience any bodily symptoms or discomfort, be sure to inform our doctor during the health screening so that our doctor can perform targeted physical examination, recommend specific tests and/or imaging studies to make a diagnosis based on your symptoms and test results, or to rule out pertinent serious medical conditions. Â
Â
Health screening can pick up certain medical conditions such as high cholesterol which is completely asymptomatic (i.e. you feel completely well even if your cholesterol is running high).
Early detection of diseases (for example high cholesterol) ensures that the cholesterol levels are treated so as to reduce your 10-year risk of cardiovascular complications (i.e. heart attack and stroke risk).Â
Health screening can also be done to ensure you have the right hormonal balance, and nutritionally replete, and therefore can contribute to even better health! Â
Through health screening, our doctor will also share health and lifestyle tips in the long run to increase your number of years in good health, also known as ‘healthy longevity’.
An important aspect of Health screening includes a comprehensive review of your vaccination records and checking if you have immunity to certain viral diseases, as part of primary prevention of infectious diseases.
The 3 main diseases contributing to cardiovascular risk (i.e. risk of stroke and heart attack) are known as “DHL” – Diabetes, Hypertension, Lipid disorders “cholesterol”.Â
These diseases do not cause symptoms in its early or even more developed stages of the diseases, until complications emerge.Â
Another disease which may benefit from early detection would be age-appropriate cancer screening, and our new Lucence multi-cancer early detection blood test. You may refer to our webpage on LucenceINSIGHT cancer screening.Â
